At my school, my students got an amazing opportunity to see Reggie Dabbs, and inspirational speaker and saxophonist.
Here's a short video that will give you an idea of who Reggie is and what he brings to the schools he visits:
This year at Penn and my school placement has really taught me how important resources are. It's incredibly important to know the community you are working in. Penn has so many amazing connections that can help you grow as a teacher, and getting to know the community you teach in is an incredible way to grow as an educator. Taking as many opportunities to help students engage and grow in the classroom is such an important aspect of teaching, and it's something Penn helps to make extremely easy.
As I'm nearing the end of my program, I'm realizing how much I've grown as a teacher. I'm realizing how many important things I've learned that I'm not sure I would have had the opportunity to learn elsewhere. Penn has placed me in a school that suits me and my future goals so perfectly, and through that, I have been exposed to so many opportunities that have completely altered and shaped who I am as an educator.
It's really amazing to reflect on my growth and how Penn has aided in that growth.
